Thoughtles

Turkey wattles

Verbal battles

Empty bottles

Tipsy toddles

Loving models

Partner coddles

Doggeral jottles

Flatware rattles

Tablecloth mottles

Sibling spattles

Everyone tattles

This Started Out as Frowning Fun but now -

The spoils of oil:  formerly loyal coin but now hard toil and the boil of roiling soiled waters.

Trompe d'oil along marshes, foiling coiling DNA, spoiling sport and trolling vessels and strolling in voile and coyly lolling.

Doilies of oil on silicon sands, anointing points and coves and protesting doves and

Gargoyled pelicans cloistered not on clean Aeolian isles, but ours.  Shoaled.

Turmoil of cloying clotting death, broiling in hot sunny joyless spume.

First Revision

Who mourns the passing of winter?

Icicles weep.

Snow melts in tears.

Ice floes drown.

Snow banks fail

While the icy blast breathes its last.

Who mourns the passing of the season?

Winter only.  Only winter.

No one else has reason -

Unless he's got skis on!

Blaster blasted

Who mourns the passing of winter?

Icicles weep.

Snow melts in grief.

Ice floes drown themselves in warm water.

Frozen ledges break from river slopes,

downstream hurtling

suicidally crashing over spring falls.

The icy blast breathes its last.

Who mourns the passing of the season?

Winter only.  Only winter.

No one else has reason.

Christmas 1999/2003

I am standing

on the corner

selling

newspapers

telling

ourselves how

we are all

lying twisting

in the political

winds

I am

dying

for a kind word

but all I get from you is

your small change

The green fish

on your white

bumper stickers

swim into the

distance

Save me

Save me

May First

The cruel, foolish fist

Of April

Opens.

What's inside?

??!?

Laugh foolishly,

Look around

See.
